Nutcracker Foundation Grants and
Corporate Sponsors
ECB’s Nutcracker is a unique partnership between artists, schools, businesses, and social service organizations. It is a partnership that touches lives and builds community. Danced to the sounds of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, the production proudly showcases New London’s 19th century maritime history, featuring a cast of 100 talented area dancers and international guest artists. The ballet is designed to complement the spirit of the Garde Arts Center, the region’s premiere historic theater, and is a Nutcracker to rival all others.
Over the years thousands of patrons have enjoyed the timeless tale of Clara and her enchanted journey. Through the generosity of business sponsors and foundations, close to 50,000 area school children have had the privilege of experiencing The Nutcracker free of charge. We have also been honored to offer complimentary tickets to underserved families as well as significantly discounted tickets for military patrons. The production draws people to New London; its restaurants, shops, and hotels, and provides exposure for our fine symphony. In spite of escalating costs, every effort is made to keep ticket prices reasonable.
As a non-profit 501 (C)(3) organization, ECB relies on donations, grants, and tuition to accomplish its important mission. As you consider the many opportunities available to partner with ECB and the community, please enjoy words of appreciation expressed by those who have experienced the full impact of sponsor generosity.
Support free elementary school performances by buying blocks of tickets for Southeastern Connecticut children.
This program continues to bring joy to thousands of children throughout the area. ECB works directly with the schools providing them with materials about the history of New London, ballet, and how they are woven together in this special production. ECB faculty members conduct special pre-production workshops in 14 regional schools to further enhance the “arts and ideas” connection. Scholarships are awarded to children identified with special talent.
“Students are not only exposed to the artistic beauty of ballet, but also learn a great deal about New London’s rich maritime history.”
—Dr. Christopher Clouet,
Former New London Superintendent of Schools
“The Nutcracker assembly was more than a creative break from class. I believe the children were truly touched
by the wonder of the arts.”
—Visiting Parent, Harbor School
Support the expansion of our Community Free Ticket Initiative.
This program began in 2006 with the generous support of The Dime Bank Foundation. In subsequent years, the Chester W. Kitchings Foundation, The Lee Company, Mooers, Branton and Company, The Reardon Agency, Yankee Remodeler, Secor Subaru and Citizens Bank joined the ranks with Dime Bank and helped us provide 350 free tickets annually to deserving families selected by community and social service organizations.
“Eastern Connecticut Ballet is a valuable friend to the women and children who live in our residential program and who are victims of domestic violence. We are truly grateful to the Eastern Connecticut Ballet for the inclusion of our families for these performances.”
—Marj Taggart Dedrick and Kate Griffith Potter,
The Women’s Center of Southeastern Connecticut

“. . . my family and I just saw the Nutcracker performed by a major ballet company. I can say with confidence that ECB’s production in New London is as beautiful and as professional. No long drive, no traffic; yet chock full of talent and beauty! Thank you Eastern Connecticut for treating us to such a professional production!”
—Mike and Marie Palladino, Parents of ECB student
The Nutcracker has been created for the community and the community’s investment is a crucial factor in its success. Your gift will touch and enrich the lives of many, many families. Thank you for sharing our vision.
